Gayatri Mantra (27 Repetitions)

Revered by both Buddhists and Hindus worldwide. It is considered to be a supreme vehicle for gaining spiritual enlightenment. The Entire Mantra says, “I invoke the Earth Plane, The Astral Plane, The Celestial Plane, The Plane of Spiritual Balance, The Plane of Human Spiritual Knowledge, The Plane of Spiritual Austerites, and The Plane of Ultimate Truth. Oh, great Spiritual Light which is the brilliance of all Divinity, we meditate upon You. Please illumine our minds.” Origin Rishis selected the words of the Gayatri Mantra and arranged them so that they not only convey meaning but also create specific power of righteous wisdom through their utterance. The ideal times for chanting the mantra are three times a day – at dawn, mid-day, and at dusk. These times are known as the three sandhyas – morning, mid-day and evening. The maximum benefit of chanting the mantra is said to be obtained by chanting it 108 times. However, one may chant it for 3, 9, or 18 times when pressed for time. The syllables of the mantra are said to positively affect all the chakras or energy centres in the human body – hence, proper pronunciation and enunciation are very important. In general, Brahmarishi Vishwamitra is credited as the mantra-dhrishta(Mantra was revealed to him) of the Gayatri Mantra. Gayatri Mantra is devoted to God Savitr. Savitr refers to Sun. @musics4Rsoul It seems strange to exclude women, just because chanting it might cause a biochemical / hormonal imbalance. It was meant to apply to everyone, regardless of boundaries of biology or society.

Deva Premal chants this so beautifully as well, and her femininity has not changed. I love her version as well as his one. Very soothing yet so powerfully reassuring.

highly recommended to chant this mantra, you can chant it morning, midday, or at sunset, but as well during the day. The significance of the mantra is being revealed to the one who repeats the mantra. It purifies your whole being. It will clear your mind and heart. At the end you say shanti 3 times to allow peace to decend upon you. Hari Om.

I don’t know if women and so called -low castes were allowed to chant this originally. They MUST definitely be allowed to NOW. Things change with time and they must. This is how Hinduism survived test of times.

hey the mantra is excellent and the video is also nice bt it also contains the video of SUNSET and watching sunset is not considered good because it indicates the end of the day,the end of something which is not good .

It is so captivating, and attractive, lulls my mind, too bad I’m female. If I practice it less often would it still cause me to lose my feminine character? It’s so hypnotic.
