Om Mani Padme Hum – Mantra of Compassion

thegic.org Mantra of Compassion – Om MANI PEDME HUN Tibetan Buddhists believe that saying the mantra (prayer), Om Mani Padme Hum, out loud or silently to oneself, invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of Chenrezig, the embodiment of compassion. Viewing the written form of the mantra is said to have the same effect — it is often carved into stones and placed where people can see them. Spinning the written form of the mantra around in a Mani wheel (or prayer wheel) is also believed to give the same benefit as saying the mantra, and Mani wheels, small hand wheels and large wheels with millions of copies of the mantra inside, are found everywhere in the lands influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. The Prayer Wheel Spiritual Technology from Tibet It is said that all the teachings of the Buddha are contained in this mantra: Om Mani Padme Hum can not really be translated into a simple phrase or sentence. It is appropriate, though, to say a little about the mantra, so that people who want to use it in their meditation practice will have some sense of what they are doing, and people who are just curious will understand a little better what the mantra is and why it is so important to Tibetan Buddhists.

And if you’re going to stand on the leg of what/who came first its a shaky one at best. Firstly there were older civilizations predating India and all relatively modern (post 10,000 BC) settlements and structures. See “Puma Punku” for references. Secondly the universe and consciousness itself is vast and ageless. If you want to look for “superior” look for the primordial wisdom from which all has arisen. There you will find the true source of´╗┐ all phenomena.

if i may add to this… buddhism´╗┐ cant be argued as a religion either because it is simply a way of life, not based on any sort of god. buddha was simply someone who could realize how to be at peace with both yourself and the world as a whole.

Fun is not what I am necessarily seeking, but I do seek joy and happiness. I want our minds to be enlightened with purity and I are most definitely not lazy. This process itself is long and it is not your position to say it is lazy when you do not even know it.

If you are not of the Buddhist religion, then I suppose you do not know what we are seeking, do you? Do not´╗┐ be so judgemental when you yourself does not know anything about this topic.

And I am not from the west.

This is a very bitter post. Clearly, whichever practice you are following is not allowing you freedom from suffering and ego. Sadly, this is´╗┐ what causes you to be so judgmental. I wish you better “luck” in the future.
